19 December 2024: Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming industries worldwide, creating both exciting opportunities and significant challenges. For India’s Global Capability Centers (GCCs), harnessing AI’s full potential hinges on building a strong and future-ready AI talent pipeline. This necessitates a strategic approach to talent acquisition, development, and retention.
This workshop brought together professionals, Centers of Excellence (COEs), industry experts, and thought leaders to address the complexities of creating such a talent supply chain. Collaborative discussions provided actionable insights and cross-industry perspectives to drive innovation in these key areas. The focus was on fostering a robust ecosystem that supports the growth and development of AI talent within India’s GCCs. The increasing integration of AI in GCCs underscores its importance not just for competitive advantage, but for talent sustainability, enhancing employee engagement, improving retention, and building a resilient workforce.
The workshop emphasized that skilled professionals are crucial for successful AI adaptation, and that acquiring and retaining AI-ready talent is paramount for effective AI integration across industries. Talent acquisition (TA) leaders and thought leaders play a vital role in shaping the future of AI by identifying, nurturing, and integrating the right talent into organizations. Their strategic vision is essential for building a sustainable talent pipeline that supports AI’s rapid evolution. The workshop also explored the challenges and solutions in sourcing and hiring skilled AI professionals, given the limited supply and high demand. Experts shared insights on streamlining recruitment, ensuring quality hires, and developing effective talent acquisition strategies. The discussions highlighted the global demand for AI talent, particularly in the US, UK, India, and Germany, which is outpacing the available supply. This emphasizes the need for educational systems to adapt to the rapid evolution of AI, and for companies to develop innovative strategies for finding skilled candidates.
India’s GCCs are recognized as global leaders in AI adoption and innovation, contributing significantly to the AI talent pool and focusing on high-value functions. However, the growing skills gap and global competition for talent necessitate strategic investments in AI talent development and retention.
