HYSEA Launches Flood Relief Response for AP & Telangana

7th September 2024: The devastating floods in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh in August brought untold suffering to hundreds of thousands of people, displacing families, damaging infrastructure, and upending livelihoods. The scale of the crisis was immense, affecting over 500,000 individuals across multiple districts, with around 100,000 families left in urgent need of assistance. In that critical hour, HYSEA stepped up to initiate a swift and robust response, enabled by the invaluable support of Nirmaan. Together, we delivered immediate relief to those affected, and to maximize our reach and impact, we called upon all corporates to join us in this humanitarian mission.

HYSEA’s Flood Response Mission: A Lifeline to Devastated Communities

HYSEA swiftly mobilized resources to deliver urgent aid to the most severely impacted districts in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. With the collaboration of Nirmaan, our flood relief efforts were focused on bringing life-saving support to affected families in the following areas:

  • Telangana: Nizamabad, Warangal, Karimnagar, Adilabad, and Khammam districts.
  • Andhra Pradesh: Krishna, Guntur, East Godavari, West Godavari, and Nellore districts.

Our primary objective is to provide immediate relief through the distribution of essential kits. Each relief kit, valued at Rs 3,000, is carefully designed to meet the urgent needs of affected families and includes:

  • Ration and hygiene supplies to ensure basic sustenance and cleanliness.
  • Medicines and first aid essentials to address immediate health concerns.
  • Critical supplies for children, providing essential care items for the youngest and most vulnerable.

HYSEA’s initial target is to reach 100,000 families with these essential kits. However, our commitment extends beyond emergency relief; we are also laying the groundwork for long-term rehabilitation to help these communities rebuild their lives. Plans for these sustained recovery efforts will be announced after completing detailed need assessments in the affected areas.

A Unified Effort to Deliver Relief

The first shipment of food and essential supplies was dispatched with a ceremonial flag-off by Sri Sridhar Babu Duddilla, Hon. Minister of IT, and Sri Tummala Nageswara Rao, Hon. Minister. The event was a powerful moment of solidarity and hope, marking the beginning of an effort to bring much-needed relief to those affected. Joining the event were key figures from HYSEA, including President Prashanth Nedella and Bharani Kumar Aroll, President & CEO of TechTriad Inc. and HYSEA Past President. Representatives from HYSEA member companies like ServiceNow, UST, and WebPT also attended, underscoring the collective resolve of the corporate community.

Gratitude

HYSEA extends its heartfelt thanks to Nirmaan and the HYSEA CSR Forum for their crucial and timely support. Their dedication has been instrumental in enabling the rapid deployment of relief resources. But this is just the beginning. The project received a total funding of Rs. 2.73 crore, generously contributed by 17 donors, including 14 HYSEA partners and 3 non-HYSEA partners. In addition to the monetary contributions, we also received valuable in-kind donations from 5 corporate partners and individual donors, further enhancing the impact and reach of our initiatives.

Together, Making a Difference

In the face of this crisis, HYSEA’s flood response represents the spirit of solidarity and resilience that defines Telangana’s IT community. With the support of our partners and the commitment of corporate allies, we are working to make a tangible difference. By providing immediate relief and planning for long-term recovery, we aim to not only assist in the aftermath of this disaster but also to help these communities regain their strength and rebuild for a better future.

Every contribution counts. Join HYSEA in this mission to provide hope, healing, and the resources to rebuild lives.
