September 29, 2026 | From AI Research to Engineering Practice: Building the Foundations for Industry Adoption
For the past two years, HYSEA and International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad (IIITH) have collaborated through technical sessions and research dialogues exploring the intersection of AI research, software engineering and enterprise adoption.
The latest session, “AI Research to Industry Practice,” focused on a key question: How do we move AI research beyond experimentation and build reliable, measurable and scalable systems for industry?
Prof. Karthik Vaidhyanathan and Prof. Y. Raghu Reddy from International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad (IIITH) shared perspectives from their work in Agentic Software Development and AI-assisted software engineering, followed by an industry discussion on the challenges of deploying AI systems in real-world environments.
The discussion focused on four areas:
• AI Development Lifecycle: Architecture, engineering environments, development processes, evaluation and technology choices required to build and continuously improve AI systems.
• AI Benchmarking and Evaluation: Developing common approaches, benchmarking results, tools and resources to help practitioners evaluate and compare AI systems.
• AI Systems and the “Oracle”: Using reliable sources of truth, reference data and validation mechanisms to verify actions and improve the reliability of AI and agentic workflows.
• From Research to Reusable Frameworks: Translating research outcomes into practical architectures, engineering frameworks and implementation patterns that industry can adopt.
The next phase of this collaboration will bring together HYSEA member companies and IIIT Hyderabad researchers to develop technical white papers, industry research and practical frameworks around AI engineering.
Two initial areas of focus will be the AI Development Lifecycle and a Global AI Benchmarking Repository, providing reference architectures, evaluation approaches, tools and resources for technology practitioners.
The objective is to create a continuous interface between AI research and industry engineering, where research informs practice and industry challenges help shape relevant research.
This will be a HYSEA member-only initiative, bringing together technology leaders and researchers to contribute tech ecosystem.
