AI Future: Hype vs Reality – HFS Energytech AI Panel Discussion

AI Reality Check: Evidence or Exuberance?

November 14, 2025: HYSEA Thought Leadership Session | International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad (IIITH)

Isaac Rajkumar of RealPage India introduced Achyuta Ghosh from HFS Research, who presented a clear and data backed view of AI’s trajectory. His message was direct: despite economic and political uncertainty, AI investment and adoption continue to rise. The shift from mobile to cloud to AI shows how quickly AI is reshaping markets, with hyperscalers doubling capital spending in three years.

He noted that enterprise adoption is still early. Organisations face limited rollouts, unclear ownership, data issues, and rising hidden costs, while teams learn how to work with AI. Chips, data centers, and power have become the core pillars of this phase, and recognising this helps leaders move with clarity.

Achyuta also highlighted shifts in the workforce, with evolving roles and learnability becoming essential as AI moves from a tool to a work partner. The session reminded us that global challenges including conflicts, inflation, and food insecurity require AI to be applied with intent and discipline.

The panel with Aditya Rao from ServiceNow, Anuradha A from IBM Consulting, Dr. Julian Kardos from The Energy Collective, and Prof. Ramesh Loganathan from CiE International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad (IIITH) brought practical insights on why pilots stall, how RoI thinking is changing, and where meaningful use cases will emerge.
Key Insights:
• Focus on efficiency and accuracy.
• Equip teams to work confidently with AI.
• Start small with simple automation.
• Choose use cases that solve real problems.
• Align teams around a clear vision.

Real progress happens when speed meets sound judgment. Value, not excitement, will determine the future of enterprise AI.
