InsideView During COVID Times
It’s not often that you live through a pandemic – but how you handle a crisis shows your true character. At InsideView, this meant stepping up for our employees, who in turn stepped up for InsideView. The result: a virtuous circle, which has paid off for everyone.
Early on, when the industry was figuring out how to respond to the crisis, we swiftly drew up a plan. By mid-March, all 140 employees were working from home. A task force with representatives from all departments was formed to identify issues and execute solutions. Fully empowered and 100% committed, decision making was fast, and execution faster. Each team met daily to monitor morale and productivity, and to quickly surface any concerns. Major issues were brought back to the task force.
With a disruption of this scope, one might expect both morale and productivity to drop. In fact, the opposite was true. Within 2 weeks, we started seeing increased output of exceptional quality. We achieved some of our toughest business goals ever while working remotely. Employee engagement scores were at their highest: “Insiders” saw the care and commitment that InsideView showed to them, and returned the favor.
As the situation evolved, InsideView read the signals early and decided to work from home through December. With that clarity, we updated our policies to support remote work, and provided additional insurance coverage for COVID-19. We equipped our employees with chairs, monitors, and internet hotspots to address concerns they had raised. And we committed to support any employee who chooses to work from another city, even after the crisis abates.
While all of this seems exceptional, in fact it is the natural extension of a strong, employee-centric culture and deeply rooted company values. We know that as the situation evolves, so will we. Working in partnership with all of our employees, we are confident that we can solve any problem with creative, practical solutions that benefit everyone.
