Hyderabad, 5th Nov 2020: HYSEA (Hyderabad Software Enterprises Association) organized the 28th edition of the Annual HYSEA Summit – HYSEA Innovation Summit 2020. The summit featured- Conference, Product Expo and Annual Industry Awards. The theme for this year’s event is ‘Surge Ahead: Win the New Normal’. The conference, exhibition & awards were in a organized in a Hybrid (Virtual + Physical) mode.
HYSEA Innovation Summit is one of the most prestigious industry events in the city. It showcases the city’s vibrant culture of innovation, booming start-up industry and ecosystem. More than 170 start-ups and 1000+ delegates, including more than 200 IT Industry leaders, attended the event virtually, which will feature keynotes and panel discussions, by leaders from IT majors and emerging start-ups.
The morning conference began with an Opening Keynote by Mr. U. B. Pravin Rao, COO, Infosys Ltd. He spoke on how the pandemic has been one of the biggest business challenges ever posed, but it has also acted as a catalyst for changes both technological and societal. He felt that some of the changes adopted by businesses during the pandemic are unlikely to be reversed. Going forward building resilience will be critical for any organization to survive whether it is their goto market strategies, Regular Ops or Infrastructure, without resilience survival would be impossible he said.
The keynote was followed by four panel discussions and the first panel on ‘Emergence of New Business Models across verticals and its impact on how IT industry needs to transform its service models’ focused on present tough times, unprecedented and arguably the biggest health care crisis the world and India has seen for many decades. The conscious measures put in to overcome the health emergency has meant that the economy has slowed down significantly and what started as health care crisis is now both a healthcare and economic crisis. Since the crisis began different businesses have been impacted differently and have had to respond in ways previously unseen, operate in a new model and innovate rapidly to manage effectively. The Panel Chair was V. Laxmikanth, Managing Director, Broadridge, Dr Krishna Ella, MD, Bharat Biotech, Rajiv Anand, ED, Axis Bank, Dr. Sangita Reddy, Joint, MD, Apollo Hospitals Enterprise, & President, FICCI.
The second panel on Future of Technology focussed on what future technologies companies are vouching on, and how these technologies will be impacting some of the broader socio-economic challenges (growth disparity, disease, environment, sustainability etc). The Panel was chaired by Mr. Anand Ramamoorthy, MD, Micron, India, Kalyan Kumar, Corporate Vice President & Chief Technology Officer, IT Services, HCL Technologies, Alex WOO, CEO, DBS Asia Hub2, Ankur Kothari, Co-founder and COO, AutomationAnywhere
The third panel on Future of Work and Talent Landscape chaired by Prashanth Nandella, President & COO, firstsource focussed on how to Build culture and engage effectively with employees as significant workforce in the recent times has been hired and onboarded remotely. It also explored New Operating models as the way team are being managed is getting more distributed and more global in nature. The panel felt, Future of work will be directly connected to the business strategy to ensure that organisations are creating adaptable and resilient businesses and careers for people. The Future of talent, the panel is going to be flexible, virtualized and a gig workforce with Gen Zs and Millennials constituting a large portion of the workforce. The fourth Panel Transforming towards a Digital Telangana was chaired by R. Srinivas Rao, COO, HYSEA, and the panellists were Ravi Narayan, CEO, T-Hub, Shrikant Sinha, CEO, TASK, Amarnath Atmakuri, CRO, ITE&C Department talked about how the Govt that has become role model for many not only in how they promote IT industry but how they use technology to improve lives in Telangana and promote grass root innovation.
The Leader Note address was delivered by Mr. Jan Baan, Founder of Baan Corporation & Cordys (Founder of Vanenburg IT Park , Hyderabad) on ‘Leadership Imperatives in the new normal’. He said, “No matter what, data will be the future and Digital Transformation isn’t about ERP anymore, it’s about automation with Machine Learning. He also felt that Post COVID-19 and forever companies will shift their platform thinking from large centralised, standardized and integrated enterprise applications to platforms that automate business processes and models independent of a single application.
In the evening Industry Awards were presented to Services and Product Companies. Additionally, Hyderabad’s Hot 10 startups were chosen by HYSEA and HYSEA will sponsor them for 1-year mentoring by TiE by giving them associate membership of TiE Hyderabad.
Hon’ble IT Minister, Sri K.T. Rama Rao was the Chief Guest and Dr. Omkar Rai, Director General, STPI, Sri Jayesh Ranjan, IAS, Principal Secretary, ITE&C Dept, Govt. of Telangana, Mr. C. P. Gurnani, CEO & MD, Tech Mahindra were the Guests of Honor. Mr. C.P.Gurnani also delivered the Industry Keynote address on Post covid imperative for the Industry.
Mr. J. Satyanarayana, IAS (Retd.) currently, Advisor to World economic forum was presented with ‘Lifetime Achievement Awards for his decades of contribution to the IT industry.
Mr. VC Sajjanar, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Cyberabad was facilitated for his services to IT industry as Covid-19 Nodal officer.
During the Awards ceremony two MOUs were exchanged by HYSEA with T-Hub and TASK focused on innovation and Cyber Training respectively.
A white paper on ‘Post-Covid imperatives for Hyderabad IT industry’ was launched at the Summit. This report has been prepared is association with KPMG, CBRE and the Government of Telangana. This report covers certain aspects like how the businesses and Govt responded to the pandemic and how they are preparing for the future. It is based on extensive survey results and one- on-one interviews.
After presenting the awards addressing the gathering the Chief Guest Sri K. T. Rama Rao, Hon’ble Minister for IT, Govt of Telangana said, “Telangana stage has used the pandemic as an opportunity to hone its Approach in the next generation technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, cyber Security, Internet of Things and others.
He said, “ we are committed to the Industry and have taken up the responsibility to provide the required skill set, reduce the cost of doing business and increase digitalization of Hyderabad to maintain its competitive edge.”
He congratulated all winners and said their collective hard work makes Hyderabad such an attractive destination for Innovation and entrepreneurship.
