HYSEA organised the 2nd Edition of its prestigious Infrastructure Summit at HICC on 22nd Oct 2021.
HYSEA Infrastructure Forum organises this annual event which features thought leaders and policy makers who share their expertise about future evolution of smart and sustainable infrastructure, specific to IT/ITES Industry. This year the theme of the event was ‘A QUEST FOR LEGACY: THE NEXTGEN INFRA’ with focus on Smart Mobility, Energy and Workplace. CBRE was the exclusive knowledge partner for the summit this year.
Mr. Arvind Kumar, IAS, Special Chief Secretary, MA&UD & Director General (NIUM), Govt of Telangana, was the Chief Guest and spoke about Telangana Govt’s vision for TS future, from an infrastructure point of view. He said, “The number of urban areas in the state have risen from 78 in 2015 to 142 at present and showcased the tremendous growth achieved in the last few years. This growth has been made possible largely due to some key factors like, the pro-industry policies of the govt, law & order, cost of living, which have created a conducive environment for everyone to flourish, he said. He also added that govt will continue to focus on capital investments to improve infrastructure in the state and continue the pro-industry policies by simplifying regulations.
Mr. Sunil Sharma, IAS, Special Chief Secretary, Govt of Telangana was a guest of honour and he spoke about the renewal energy vision for Telangana. Delivering the keynote address, he said, “Our state is fortunate to be untouched by the current energy crisis because of coal shortage. The state government is committed to encourage generation of renewable energy, specially Solar energy to augment the conventional energy sources like thermal and hydel projects as power was key to the growth of any nation state. He also shared that of the 17250 MW of power generated in the state the renewal power sources account for 4445MW, one of the highest in the country”.
Earlier Ms. Suman Mishra, CEO of Mahindra Electric Mobility delivered the keynote address, talked about the Urban transportation challenges Indian cities are facing and the future road map. She called on the IT Industry to augment its capabilities around embedded system design and power electronics, as it would truly help build better Electric Vehicles. She also graciously agreed to consider a request from President of HYSEA, Mr. Bharani Aroll for setting up a EV Centre of Excellence in Hyderabad.
Earlier Welcoming the gathering, Mr. Bharani Aroll, President HYSEA said, “HYSEA has been promoting many sustainability related programs in the city and Green Energy is one the key campaigns that HYSEA is driving through HYSEA Infrastructure Forum. We have had discussions with Govt of Telangana and we proposed to enter into a MOU with the govt to promote usage of Green Power and reduce carbon footprint, he said”
A white paper by CBRE & HYSEA on ‘The Next Normal: Reimagining Hyderabad’s Real Estate’ was released at the summit. The white paper covers topics that have become critical for the Industry post pandemic, like, the emergence of new work models, initiatives reinforcing Hyderabad’s future growth, environmental, social and governance practices, and future implications for occupiers and investors in the office sector.
Dr. D. Nageshwar Reddy, Founder & Chairman, AIG, Hospitals, spoke about the role of health infra in Hyderabad’s future growth and said Hyderabad, already well known in the country for health infra can further build on it.
HYSEA Infra Forum Leader and Head of Strategy & Transformation – International CIO & Country Head, State Street, Mr. Ramesh Kaza, set the context of the event and said, “As an Industry body we have the interest and capability to make sure that the places we work in become better. HYSEA Infra Forum in partnership with the Govt and all stakeholders will continue to bring awareness on sustainability issues like smart transportation, water conservation, reducing single use plastic, and physical security to make Hyderabad and TS a better place to live in”.
