Ramesh Loganathan, Managing Director, and VP (Products), Progress Software, India, elected new President of ITsAP

Ramesh111The 22nd Annual General Body Meeting of ITsAP held on 29th April 2014 at Radisson Hotel, Gachibowli, unanimously elected Mr. Ramesh Loganathan as its next President for the term 2014-16.  He takes over this responsibility from Mr.  V. Rajanna, VP and Regional Head of TCS.

Mr. Ramesh Loganathan leads Progress Software’s largest product development laboratory, at Hyderabad, India. He has over 23 years of experience in distributed systems engineering and R&D leadership. In his current capacity, he was instrumental in transforming the Hyderabad facility from an Offshore Development Centre to a Centre of Excellence model, developing frontline products including the common cloud services platform. Prior to joining Progress, Ramesh was Vice President of product engineering and middleware technologies at Pramati. He led the engineering effort of Pramati’s renowned J2EE Server and Studio products.

Ramesh holds a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering – Control Systems from Anna University. He is a passionate technology evangelist and an active member of the IT industry organizations, where he helps with product and technology initiatives. He was the Vice President of ITsAP for the years 2012-14 and has led the Association’s Software Product Forum for many years. He has co-authored the book “SOA Approach to Integration”. Ramesh is adjunct faculty at IIIT-H, teaching courses on Middleware systems since 2002.  Ramesh is also on the Academic Council at IIIT-H, and on governing councils of the incubators at IIIT-H, BITS-Hyderabad and IIT Hyderabad. He is also active in the Hyderabad start-up ecosystem – driving early stage start-up events for StartupSaturday, TiE-Hyderabad, ITsAP, Academic incubators and Hyderabad4Innovation.

Outgoing President, Mr. V. Rajanna, recounting the activities that fuelled the growth of the industry in the last couple of years said,” Emphasis on Competency enhancement, skill development, leadership development, nurturing talent, equipping staff with latest trends in IT etc. ensured through various seminars, training programmes have paid rich dividends and ITsAP continues to firmly believe that the human capital forms the backbone of the IT industry, and hence, talent acquisition,  management and retention, together with competency creation in technology & domain, have become subjects of paramount importance to the Industry and the Association”. He congratulated the newly elected President and hoped that ITsAP will continue its good work in sustaining the growth of IT Industry in the state as there was still lot more to be done.

Mr. Ramesh thanked all members present, for electing him the President, and said, “Industry has gone thru an amazing phase in these past 5 years.  Inspite of worldwide recessionary pressures and concerns on stability in the city, we have had year on year double digit growth, aided largely by Industry’s focus on efficiency, both cost efficiency and value efficiency.  And this is the first step towards future proofing our industry as cost structures continue to grow”. 

Hyderabad, he said, is at present is at the fore front of start-up scene in the country and these will grow over next few years to make Hyderabad a very formidable place for start-ups. This is the next wave for our industry and it is from here the next big company will emerge.  IP and innovation led companies will create long term sustainability and value, that can command much higher prices in the global markets.

Ramesh added, “I am very happy to be part of with this transformational phase of the industry that is very passionately led by wonderful people, who also form the ITsAP association and drive the industry initiatives with as much enthusiasm as they do their day time roles.  Looking forward to the next couple of years when we will hopefully hit the knee in the growth of this next big wave.  That will put Hyderabad squarely and loudly into the global technology map”.
