HYSEA organizes its 2nd Annual CSR Summit

~ More than 500 delegates including eminent leaders, associates from IT and ITES Industry, NGOs, & Consulting Firms attend the event ~
Hyderabad, 4th November 2015 – Hyderabad Software Enterprises Association HYSEA (Formerly ITsAP – The IT and ITES Industry Association of AP) organized its 2nd edition of Annual HYSEA CSR Summit at HICC today. The focus of this year’s event was the Role of IT/ITES Industry in the sustainable/ holistic community development through Empowerment, Inclusivity, and Education.
Mr. K T Ramarao, Minister for IT and Panchayat Raj, Govt of Telangana was the chief guest at the event. Other dignitaries present at the event included Sri. Jayesh Ranjan, IAS, Secretary, ITE&C Dept, Govt of Telangana, Prof. S. Parasuraman,Director, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Prof. Shantha Sinha, Former Chairperson, National Commission for Protection of Child Rights & Founder, Mamidipudi Venkatarangaiya Foundation, Mr. Mukesh Kumar, Chief Programme Executive-CSR, Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA), Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Deenanath Harapanahalli, CEO, CyKul, Dr. Rukmini Banerji, CEO, Pratham, Ms. Chaya Ratan, IAS [Retd.] , Mr. Sanjay Singh, Director – Office of Development, Indian School of Business and Mr. Anshu Gupta, Founder, Goonj.
During his address Mr. K. T. Rama Rao said, “We are extremely happy to see the kind of initiatives which the IT sector has taken up for the uplifting the underprivileged. We are sure that the industry will continue the momentum and play an important role in supporting the government in its mission to provide better living conditions for everybody in the form of better education, more employment, healthy environment and many such things.”
Mr. Jayesh Ranjan, IAS, Secretary ITE&C Department, Speaking on the occasion said, “A Green IT Committee was constituted under the Chairmanship of the IT Secretary for promoting several eco-friendly practices in the IT corridor. The initiatives include Plantations in the IT corridor, preserving the lakes in Cyberabad, Cycle to work, Car Free Thursday, promoting Marathons and Cyclathons. The Green IT Committee includes representatives from the Industry and the Government. Green IT awards are envisaged to encourage IT companies and Parks to actively promote these initiatives”.
Mr. Ramesh Loganathan, President HYSEA & said, “The objective of this event as last year was to acquaint the member companies with the new companies act 2013 relating to CSR and how effectively they can invest their efforts in an inclusive and sustainable manner. We are overwhelmed with the support recent CSR initiatives like School adoption; Greenathon and CAR FREE THURSDAY have received from the Industry. We value the passion amongst the members to do something for the society.”
Earlier briefing the audience on the HYSEA CSR Forum and its activities Bharani K. Aroll, HYSEA CSR Leader and VP, Butler America, said, “HYSEA through its CSR forum has brought synergies of employees from multiple IT/ITES companies to come together and contribute to the society. The collective resources and reach of this forum is much larger than what individuals and their own companies can offer. This group has taken up eco-initiatives like tree planting, education by supporting schools, flood relief by taking up reconstruction efforts in few villages with significant financial support, cycle rides and health awareness drives, and many other similar charitable activities for the benefit of the society at large. HYSEA has also encouraged member companies on the green journey by institutionalizing awards for companies for their ‘Green’ initiatives. The HYSEA CSR Forum is working towards fulfilling its responsibility towards society and extending help when and where required”, he said.
The Key note address was delivered by Prof. Shantha Sinha, Former Chairperson, National Commission for Protection of Child Rights & Founder, Mamidipudi Venkatarangaiya Foundation, on building sustainable communities with renewed emphasis on child rights and Education.
Prof. Parasuraman, Director, Tata Institute of Social Science, spoke in depth on how sustainable development cannot be achieved without due importance to environment as short term gains come heavy costs later.
A Panel Discussion on How to build sustainable communities through focus on Education, Empowerment, Inclusivity & Environment was the view that it’s the only choice left for us as a society. Sustainability of a community will depend on us creating and maintaining its economic and environmental health, promoting social equity, and fostering broad-based citizen participation in planning and implementation. The session was moderated by Deenanath Harapanahalli, CEO, CyKul and the other panelists included Dr. Rukmini Banerji, CEO, Pratham, Ms. Chaya Ratan, IAS [Retd.] Mr. Sanjay Singh, Director – Office of Development, Indian School of Business and Prof. Shantha Sinha.
The closing Keynote was delivered by this year’s winner of Ramon Magsaysay Award Mr. Anshu Gupta, Founder, Goonj who talked about how many rules of the development sector are moving away from a funding based sustainable model to one where masses are the focus.
The daylong event brought together eminent leaders from IT and ITES Industry who are involved in CSR activities, Non-Governmental Organizations – Who work with corporate or independently to implement the CSR related projects, Consulting firms and Associates from IT & ITES Industry who are involved in CSR initiatives. Around 500 delegates participated in the event. Some selected NGOs, showcased their CSR initiatives at the Expo and best practices in CSR by through presentations.

The initiatives include: Plantations in the IT corridor, preserving the lakes in Cyberabad, Cycle to work, Car Free Thursday. The companies recognized with certificates of appreciation included INVESCO, WELLSFARGO, TCS and ASCENDAS IT PARK.
