IT Industry’s massive response to Government of Telangana’s 25 Lakh plantation drive
HYSEA (Hyderabad Software Enterprises Association), SCSC, TSIIC and ITE&C Department lead the efforts of the IT/ITES Industry

More than 60,000 saplings were planted in the IT Corridor, Financial District and at various IT Campuses
11th July 2016, Hyderabad: HYSEA, SCSC, TSIIC and ITE&C Department, lead the massive efforts of the IT/ITES Industry in supporting the ambitious mega tree plantation drive of the Govt of Telangana as part of the Haritha Haram program.
The event was formally inaugurated by Hon’ble Minister for IT Sri K T Rama Rao by planting a sapling at Biodiversity Park, Gachibowli. KT Rama Rao garu planted a plant scientifically known as Alostania. Other key dignitaries accompanying him included, P. Mahender Reddy, Transport Minister, Govt of Telangana, Sri Jayesh Ranjan, IAS, Secretary, ITE&C Dept., Govt of Telangana, Sri Naveen Chand, IPS, CP, Cyberabad-West Sri Narasimha reddy, MD, TSIIC, Bharani Kumar Aroll, Secretary, HYSEA & SCSC, Amarnath Atmakuri, CRO, ITE&C Department, Govt of Telangana and captains of the IT/ITES Industry planted saplings to start off this massive drive in the IT District. As part of this drive more than 50,000 saplings were planted at various locations in the IT and financial districts including several campuses of IT companies, Academic and Research Institutions by IT/ITES professionals. Thousands of volunteers could be seen enthusiastically planting saplings to create a world record of planting 25 Lakh saplings in a day. Key locations where saplings were planted included: Open Space beside Franklin Templeton, Biodiversity Park, Raidurgam Internal Roads, Software Units Layout, Varun Motors to ORR, QCity Village Road and Maulana Azad Urdu University (Gachibowli).
In addition to HYSEA and SCSC efforts, TSIIC also planted 10,000 saplings and distributed 39000 saplings including 30000 medicinal plants.
IT companies participated in this drive by planting in their own campuses, by sending volunteers and contributing funds to help finance the plantation drive. The contributing companies include:

Welcoming the gathering Bharani Aroll, Secretary HYSEA and SCSC said, “We in the IT Industry are committed to this initiative and have are happy to share that HYSEA in Association with TSIIC has been planting saplings for 8th year in row. We have always been committed to not only planting but maintaining the plants till they are self-sustainable. One in every ten tree in the IT district has been planted by an IT professional! Speaking on the occasion Hon’ble Minister for IT Sri K. T. Rama Rao thanked IT industry, HYSEA for making elaborate arrangements. He also thanked people for making to the venue in spite of rain. Mr. KT Rama Rao termed the tree plantation drive a massive initiative in addition to being a record breaking attempt to ensure our future generations inherit a better city than what we have inherited from our previous generation.
We never knew in the past that global warming will be so harsh. We have hardly paid any attention thinking we are not affected, because of which now we all are experiencing unseasonal rains, hot summers, and harsh climates. He said, “We cannot keep quiet, we need to correct it. This massive tree plantation is a step towards that direction. It is a pioneering effort so much so that when rest of country is trying to plant 50 crore plants every year, Telangana State alone will plant 46 crore this year. It is one of a kind initiative, the third largest effort in the human history”.
He also added that, the government had initiated retrofitting of IT parks last year and have introduced incentives for IT companies to retrofit their buildings to make them environment friendly. We want these IT facilities physically challenged friendly too he said. This mega tree plantation is not just a government program. We want everyone to participate in it. Plant more trees, ensure green cover for future generations, KT Ramarao said before concluding his address.In a message on the occasion Mr. Ranga Pothula, PRESIDENT, HYSEA and Vice President, Infor India Pvt Ltd applauded the massive support from IT Industry for HYSEA’s tree plantation drive each year and especially to this massive effort of planting 25 lakh saplings in Hyderabad this year. He assured the government that for HYSEA tree plantation is sustainable activity and we ensure the survival of saplings we plant.
