The long-awaited GST bill that is expected to unify and simplify the Indian tax structure will be implemented soon and most industries are likely to be impacted. The IT sector with services such as software development, consulting services, mobile app development, website design and more, is one of the major sectors that is likely to be impacted. With the intention of safeguarding the financial independence of the States and the Centre, the government has proposed a dual GST structure, under which State GST as well as Central GST will be applicable for every supply of good. Though at an elementary level this might appear to be basic, the IT sector may have some formidable changes that need to be tuned in to. To help IT companies understand the implication of the proposed changes, HYSEA in association with CII organized a WORKSHOP on GST Implementation for the benefit of Association Members.

Mr V V Parsuram, Convenor, CII Telangana Ease of Doing Business Panel &  Global Head (R&D Operations),  Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd opened the workshop with his address followed by a detailed session by Mr Abhinav Srivastava  E & Y Analysis Director, EY on the GST implementation for IT Industry.

Ms Sudha Koka, Additional Commissioner, Hyderabad – 1 Commissionerate, Department of Customs, Central  Excise & Service Tax, Govt. of India, spoke about the actual registration process through demonstration and promised to handhold small and medium size companies  thru the process in case of any difficulties.

Earlier Vijay Rangineni, Managing Committee member of HYSEA and Global Delivery Head – BSG, Tech Mahindra welcomed the gathering and invited Mr. V. Rajanna, VP & Regional Head, TCS and Chairman CII to set the context for the workshop.

More than 110 finance leads from member companies attended and benefitted from the workshop.
