Hyderabad, 7 March 2009:  HYSEA (Hyderabad Software Exporters Association) celebrated its 17th Annual Awards function today at Hyderabad International Convention Center, Hyderabad.   Mr. Jainder Singh, IAS & Secretary, Department of Information Technology, Government of India was the Chief Guest and Mr. Ajay Mishra, IAS, Principal Secretary to Government of Andhra Pradesh, Information Technology & Communication Department graced the occasion as Guest of Honour.

Hyderabad Software Exporters Association (HYSEA ) recognizes the performance of IT & ITES companies operating out of Hyderabad every year during the HYSEA Annual Day. This year, the HYSEA Annual Awards was a whole day event, showcasing products that push the boundaries of innovation in technology. The awards are representative of the growth of IT and ITES sector in the State of Andhra Pradesh both by domestic and MNC companies and also highlights the emphasis by them to develop world-class software products at Hyderabad.

Mr. Narsimha Rao, President, HYSEA & VP and Center Head, Infosys, presented the Annual Update for HYSEA . He highlighted various HYSEA activities during the year to promote the growth of IT/ITES industry, software product development in the state, development of knowledge base and competencies through various HYSEA Forums. Speaking on the occasion, he said, “from a humble Rs 284 Crore in 1998 to over Rs 26,100 Crore in exports in 2008 from AP we have surely demonstrated that as an industry we have made phenomenal progress.  This is the evening where we celebrate our success and where we recognize star performers in our industry. HYSEA wishes to congratulate not only these winners but everyone in the industry who have helped us in making a positive different to our society by way of this huge in the economic activity”.
The nominations were called for five major categories of - Startups, Portals, MNC, Established Indian and Social Impact. The nominations are from various domains & verticals including mobile applications, Infrastructure products, manufacturing, FMCG, health care, NGOs, State Government departments, IT service providers, etc. Around 111 nominations, including an encouraging number of about 60 startups (products & portals); have been received for the award. Almost fifty nominations have been finalized and shortlisted for the Demo presentation and public showcase.
The Event saw VCs, angel investors, incubation cells in academic institutions, Senior Managers from industry engaged in products/frameworks/IP creations and aspiring startups as a part of the event. The event also included talks by successful entrepreneurs, VCs and Product architects on various topics on product development along with panel discussions on various topics.
